Kugelblitz 1.1

· Build 32

New

  • Mouse: With ⌘ the scroll wheel turns the globe around the point under the pointer.
  • My Places: Under “Line” you choose the color and opacity of a place’s lines, outlines and paths, under “Area” whether its area is filled, in which color and how opaque. “Color from the File” and “Fill from the File” take your own choice back; colors and fill go out with an export.
  • My Places: Select several places and set in the information what makes sense for all of them together: the marker’s kind and color and, for lines and areas, their color, opacity and fill too, for points and paths with heights the height and the curtain’s opacity. What differs reads “Mixed”; a change applies to all of them and is one step to undo.
  • The heading tape turns the view: drag it with the mouse or swipe sideways over it with two fingers, and the scale follows your hand; with ⌥ around the view point.
  • Tours: The stops are in “My Places” under their tour, numbered and with the flight there. You drag places and folders onto the tour or between its stops, and stops into another order within the tour; each stop has information of its own, and the tour has that for all its stops.
  • Tours: Every flight has a flight type, “Automatic”, “Glide”, “Cruise” or “Arc”, and a speed, “Calm”, “Medium” or “Brisk”, for the whole tour and, if you like, for each stop. “Automatic” chooses by the way; the new cruise climbs to a third of the way and flies straight on there. The speed says how fast the picture moves, and the duration follows from it; a fixed duration still works. The speed in km/h is gone: such flights now fly as the tour does.

Improved

  • My Places: When the pointer rests on a row, the entry’s description shows.
  • My Places: The opacity sliders of lines, areas, images and curtains show their effect on the globe while you drag them.
  • SpaceMouse: The Spaceball 5000 and the SpaceMouse Plus are recognised with all their keys. Space Glider no longer offers Kugelblitz in its menu while Kugelblitz steers the SpaceMouse itself.
  • Report a Problem: An email address for questions back is now required; without one a report cannot be sent. So every problem can be asked about, and you learn when a new version fixes it.
  • Trackpad: Rotating two fingers turns the globe around the point under the pointer, as zooming closes in on it; so does the glide after you lift them.
  • Trackpad and Magic Mouse: Climbing and sinking with ⇧ and two fingers keeps the point under the pointer in place, as zooming does.
  • My Places: Areas from KML are filled as in Google Earth, also where the file gives them no style (white then). A style on a place adds to the shared style it refers to instead of replacing it. Files already imported show this after importing them again.
  • Map: The coastlines, borders, rivers and lakes of the whole Earth, the names of countries, regions, landscapes and seas and the cities come from the overview of the Kugelblitz tile server, the same source as the map close up. It ships with Kugelblitz: none of it is loaded any more, and the cities are there sooner after launch.
  • Map: Over cities with many stops and places the map appears sooner as you fly and zoom; Kugelblitz puts it together in a tenth of the time.

Fixed

  • KMZ files open in Kugelblitz and can be given to it with “Use Kugelblitz for All” with Google Earth installed too. The Finder did not offer Kugelblitz for them before.
  • SpaceMouse with 3Dconnexion’s driver: once registering with the driver failed, every further attempt failed too. Space Juggler, which shares the SpaceMouse among apps, now clears the failure first, so the SpaceMouse responds as soon as the driver answers.
